Getting there

Due to the long distance it is hard to go directly without assistance. The total distance is about 100km but due to the excellent highway system of Thailand this means a trip of only about one and a half hours.

Take a tour - Of course there are many tours available which will arrange private or shared mini-bus and all day activities including shopping.

Ride bicycle – due to the very flat land in this area bicycle riding is very nice. However you must be familiar with the roads and the habits of other Thai road users.

If you are driving yourself or in a hire car then you may choose to stop along the canal before reaching the market and take one of the many boats for hire into the market so that you reach the market by water. This is a unique experience which is very reasonably priced.

You may choose to stay over night in a hotel near to The Damnoen Saduak which is called Nok Noi so that you can visit the market at the earliest hour possible without having to get up too early. How about having a healthy Thai breakfast of fruit and noodles?

By Car

Ask at your hotel for a hire car with driver to go to the market.  The price for an air-condition private car with driver is about 4,000 baht for the whole car meaning 2 to 4 passengers.

This includes the journey both ways, all fuel and tolls but does not include any expenses once you have reached the market.

Of course a private car is the most luxury way and so the price is suitable. It would be best to start as early as possible in the day to enjoy the Market at its best in the early morning.

By Bus

For the most economic travel of course take the public Bus.  They are available from the Bangkok city South Terminal and start every morning at 6am.  A new bus leaves about ever 40 minutes but do check the schedule.

Bus ticket is only 50 baht per person one way, however of course the trip is longer and may take over 2 hours to complete.

Bus from Southern Bus Terminal to Samut Sangkhram, Ratchaburi then walk bus 78 from the Southern Bus Terminal – two hours during the day but only one hour if you start very early (e.g. 6am first bus).  The morning bus to Samut Songkhram which passes Damnoen Saduak

By Boat

Although the market is on the canal it is a long way to go from Bangkok entirely by boat and not good for a day trip. However you may go to another nearby local market such as Thakha Floating Market by taxi or hire car, and from there a boat can take you to our market for only 200 bhat in less time.

Floating Market Bangkok

The Floating Market most associated with Bangkok is at Damnoen Saduak which actually about 40 miles (60km) southwest of the city, but easily within coach or boat trip distance making it a great day trip with plenty of time to see some of the glorious countryside of Thailand.
